Timeline for ILR Applications

Post by harshitguptaiitr » Mon Aug 22, 2016 3:43 pm

How long does it take to get a decision and documents back from postal application for ILR?

I know the website says a maximum of 6 months, but I wanted to know what is the experience of other members on this forum?

This is situation of my friend:

Company sponsored Visa issued on passport: 30-Mar-2010
Physically entered UK on Work Visa: 10-Apr-2010
Visa renewed: 2013, 2015
Current BRP validity: Dec 2018
Knowledge of Life: Passed in Feb 2016
Knowledge of Language (IELTS Life Skills B1): Passed in Aug 2016

She wants to travel outside UK in end of Dec and then end of Feb 2017. If needed, she can skip the end of Dec trip but not end of Feb trip.

What should she do other than paying premium fees?

I suggest you check the several ILR timeline threads on the forum.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Thanks.
  • If the timeline falls outside her travel dates, can she upgrade at a later date to premium application?
  • Will she be charged less depending on how far the application has already progressed?
  • Does UKVI send periodic update on status of application?

Yes
  • Will she be charged less depending on how far the application has already progressed?
No. She'll have to pay the full upgrade
  • Does UKVI send periodic update on status of application?
Not unless they advise that they are unable to make a decision within the published standards.

Here's a link to the most recent page of an ILR timeline thread.
