Not working whilst sponsoring

Post by Jahedh » Tue Aug 23, 2016 11:06 am

Hello

I am sponsoring my wife who has a BRP until 2019. I have been told I need to be in full time employment for the duration of this BRP by family. Is this true legally?

I was planning on taking a holiday for a few months so I would be unemployed during this time. Would this affect my future BRP extension application?

Thanks in advance.

You are required to submit the most recent 6 months payslips + the 6 months corresponding bank statements showing that you have an annual income of £18,600 when your wife submits her next visa application.
You don't have to show income of £18,600 p.a throughout the full 2.5 year period. Joint income will also qualify.

Be aware however, that you need to be able to support yourselves financially without relying on Public funds during your period of unemployment.
