EU residence permit To trvel to Republic of Ireland

Post by one2three » Fri Sep 02, 2016 3:25 am

Hello all,

I have a Non Eu (visa requiring) friend who recently got married to a British national in Scotland, They now want to come to Ireland as the visa process and all looks difficult in th UK than in Ireland.

He is now planning to apply for EU residence permit through Irish embassy Edinburgh which can enable him to travel to Ireland along with his British wife and wife's kid (kid is British national too).

is it easy to get this entry visa to travel to Ireland or does it take too long or any other problems due to Brexit.

Additional information- This friend was deported from Ireland back to the UK 2 years ago -(he was traveling from Belfast to Dublin and was caught by garda and was sent back after they took his finger prints and wasissued with an official letter) ..... Now can that deportation affect his accompanying EU spouse visa application or not ?

Thanks :)

What do you mean by EU residence permit?
A visit is not residence.
And you don't apply for residence card from embassy.

Friend needs an entry visa.

Yes, poor immigration history can affect outcome.
And yes there are delays with Irish visas these days.
