DLR to ILR Advice

Post by Hucklebee » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:53 pm

Hi House. I am new here and require direction on some questions I have:

I am on a 6yr route DLR - 1st DLR obtained Nov 2010, 2nd DLR ganted Dec 2013. I am due to apply for ILR in Nov 2016. My questions and worries....

Do I use the form SET(O) for this ILR application? I have heard and read conflicting repoets elsewhere on the appropriate form. My applications were based on Family Life.

I am currently on a contract which ends in Dec 2016 as my employers are aware of my VISA restrictions. I will book a PEO visit in Nov when I apply. Does anyone know what the usual waiting times is from previous experience? Both of my previous applications were approved and returned within 28 days.

I have taken and passes the Life in the UK test in 2011 and told this does not expire. Do I need this? And the English Language requirements also? I want to book that as well just in case although I have an English taught BSc and a PgDip from a UK college. Advise needed.

Also any help on supporting documents to be presented will be appreciated. Will this be the same as I have previously submitted or is there a separate list for ILR applications?

Lastly. In Sept 2013, I was fined and had 3 points on my licence for handling a mobile phone while driving. I am told this will be removed from my licence in 3yrs. Will this be taken into consideration as part of the Good Character test? And will this affect my ILR?

Please any advice and commentary will be very appreciated.

hi just submitted my ILR application after 6 yrs. DLR.
submitted on 01/09/2016
UKVI received my documents on 2/09
payment deducted 5/09
today juts received the letter for my biometrics.

anywyas I sent my application by post but some people say that they can do it by premium service but not sure and it is additional 500 pounds not sure thou. I used Set O form and you don't need to have LIfe In the UK and the English language test.
not sure how long it will take in my letter it says it will take up to 6 month and probably longer we are the same thou my last Visa is around 28 days only but probably it will take longer bec. it is ILR anyways if you can afford premium service then do so because it will only take one day.

Thanks for the response and it gives hope and confidence. I am very frightened and NOT because I have done anything wrong but I was offered a job in May on the back of my vast experience in my field and working with a firm which deals primarily in confidentiality and sensitive materials and clients and whilst acknowledging my status at the time, a gamble was made to take me on, and until my ILR status was confirmed and this my employment will terminate on the last date on my biometric card unless I can someone return to my HR with a letter or some confirmation that I have submitted an application or that it has/will be granted. I will have to go down the PEO route and hope that a decision can and will be made on the same day.

Please, what documents did you send in? and you said you were sent a biometric enrolment? This will have to be done again? I had thought that the ILR was a stamp on the passport and not a card?

Applicants are 'sent a biometric enrollment letter' only if they apply by post. If you are applying in person then biometrics will be take on the date of your appointment.

ILR is NOT a sticker in your passport. If ILR is approved, you will receive a BRP card (biometric resident permit) by courier.
