Was I British at birth - form UKM

I'm applying for my first British passport.

There is a question "Was the applicant a British national at birth?"

I recently registered as a British citizen via form UKM (UK born mother). I wasn't sure how to answer this as I wasn't actually British until my registration was completed. However, I am British by virtue of being born to a mother who was a British Citizen otherwise than by descent.
