Are lump sums in visitor's bank accounts suspicious?

Post by samforward » Tue Sep 13, 2016 6:50 pm

My girlfriend from Indonesia is planning her second visit to the UK this Christmas (previously came for 2 weeks last Christmas). This time round my father will be acting as sponsor because I'm back in full time education, and my gf is having a career break to look after her mother so does not have any funds like last time.

The money she has (around £700) is savings in cash (much more common in Indonesia), and so we are left with two choices.

1. Apply for the visa with her bank account showing virtually nothing but my father with a healthy bank account, salary and accommodation assuring he will cover everything.
2. She deposits the cash and has £700 in her bank statements in her application. I know sudden deposits looks suspicious as they could just be handed back after the visa goes through.

I would really appreciate some advice on this matter.

Thanks

Yes, suspicious.

As important is proof that gf will return home. What ties does she have there?

thanks for the help.

Sorry I should have said - she has a job, though lower salary than when previously accepted last year and it's part time, she will have only been working there a few weeks by the time we apply for the visa. She has an apartment contract, elderly grandmother who she helps to care for, pets. We will put all that in the supporting docs.
