Hi,

Congratulations!

I am preparing to apply next year (2017) when my two years cohabitation and documents is complete. Your post is very helpful.

I posted by query a few days ago, really basic ones but no reply so far so I am hoping for some tips from you. I stayed with my boyfriend for a year (I was studying) and now have to leave the UK back to Malaysia to my job. While we have been together for over three years, we have just decided on this being serious (we got a dog etc, and thought after the year that yes, we are ok together and this might work!) and thus the thinking on how we can stay with each other in the UK.

My question is: when i fill in the form, I am the applicant applying to join my boyfriend? and am i to do this from Malaysia and not from the UK?

second question: Since I would be out of the country for a few months (probably 4-6 months) would this hamper my application? The duration is needed for me to quit my job, find a tenant for my house in Malaysia etc. During this time, correspondences will still be coming to my boyfriend's house under my name. How would this be interpreted / would my passport be scrutinised closely you think?

I thank you in advance for even reading this, and more so if you could share some thoughts.
