English Requirement for Tier1(Gen) ILR

Post by vmdevar » Tue Sep 27, 2016 9:17 pm

Hello,

Good evening. I have read many topics in this forum and could not get exact answer. May be because my query is more related to recent changes to Language Requirement. Could some one please clarify on this?

I'm a Tier1(Gen) applicant and proved knowledge of English language when I first entered the country in October 2011 (visa was stamped in June 2010). Now I'm getting ready to apply for ILR. Do I need evaluation of my Masters using NARIC for degree and it's taught in English for proving language requirement? Currently I do not see PBS calculator which I used for extension.

Thanks

The PBS calculator can no longer be used. You will need a NARIC ELA which I understand has a fee of £150

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

In my own opinion, I will advise you to take the SELT B1. You really dont have to make any big preparation for it and the result is ready for Home Office verification three days after you pass the test.

The UKNARIC verification is a long process. You will need to get a copy of your transcript if you dont already have one from your school. And the UKNARIC letters get to you 10 days after you have put the application forward.

Just go for the exam, it is very simple. It is 10 minutes exam. It makes your language requirement very very simple

Thanks Casa for clarification.
Thanks baddy for the tip.

As my Masters is non-UK degree, by just writing English test (SELT B1) alone, I may not be able to compare my degree against UK-degree [Education Qualification]. So, I'm thinking NARIC evaluation is better option. I'm not in hurry to do this. I'm happy if I can apply for ILR before the end of this year.

Thanks,
