My son's dependent's visa is valid until March 2018 so I think I might be applying for his BC directly without ILR. Therefore, it will be helpful if you or other senior members could advice what supporting documents (in addition to the standard) and any other arguments I should mention in my application. I have forgotten to mention that my younger son is British. It will be best to submit a strong case with full preparation and then see how it goes.

So any advice would be helpful.

Thanks.
Your wife should apply for citizenship together with the child as 'family applying for citizenship' but you need to show u are a British citizen n your child has been resident in the uk for 2 years. Remember to include the Head Teacher's support letter (strongly worded). I dont see how such application will be refused. Immigration status of the child is irrelevant in this case.

They should grant it based on family UNITY.

I applied when neither my wife nor child is settled but I am British. In this case, it is really dicey but it will be successful based on my circumstances I would say.

Hi,

Just to update that I applied for my son's British Citizenship WITHOUT applying for his ILR. I submitted the application in December and by the Grace of God today I have received the approval letter. I submitted a strong cover letter with documentary evidences stating why discretion on discretion should be applied. It worked out and I managed to skip the ILR step.
