Dependant child Naturalisation

Post by guptar1 » Tue Oct 11, 2016 9:58 pm

I recently got mine and my wife's ILR done and since our child was born in UK, we straight away applied for his naturalisation. While we are awaiting for that to be processed, we may have to travel to India in the coming months but I am worried about the visa status of my child. We still have his Tier-1 dependant BRP card which is valid until June 2017 but I am not sure if that is now nulled (since the main applicant i.e. myself has now got an ILR)?Will I face any trouble while re-entering UK?
Any help is highly appreciated

Minors are registered not naturalised.

ILR is not conditional; child has ILR until s/he becomes a citizen when certificate is issued.

thanks for your reply @noajthan
I did not apply ILR specifically for my child so he is still on my old visa (Tier-1 general dependant) whereas I have ILR visa now. there is no update on his registration certificate as yet.

Child can travel on existing visa provided you got ILR via 5 years residence PBS route and not ILR based on 10 years long residency.

Hi @ CR001

Thanks for your reply. Yes I got ILR through 5 years residence PBS route. Do you know of any home office guidance web page or document where this is mentioned?

Many Thanks
