Urgent: Travel without BRP

Post by rmoore » Tue Oct 18, 2016 4:26 pm

Hello All,

I had recently applied for a visa using premium service and it was approved.

However, I have not received the BRP yet, it has been 5 working days since the decision.

I am flying out this weekend and if I do not receive my BRP then I will not be able to enter the UK.

In the event that I am outside the UK and it is more than 10 working days, can a friend collect the BRP on my behalf? Of course I will have to notify the Home Office that I have not received the BRP.

Please let me know what are my options.

Best Regards

RM

The BRP is delivered to your addressed by DX Courier.

Thanks for your reply. But in the event, it is not delivered AND I am out of the UK, what would happen?

Can I inform the HO using the site and then they could deliver to somebody else' friend? Or in the worst case scenario, can I hire a lawyer to deal with the situation?

Probably not.

Best would be to postpone your travel if you can.

Unfortunately, I can't postpone. However, I already have a lawyer who helped me with my application. And in the correspondence, I have given his address.

He said that I can leave the UK and if the BRP doesn't arrive, he can chase it on my behalf. Once he has them, he can courier me.

You can travel without BRP. I've done that before, you will be stopped and have to wait for a while until they verify your details. Just bring the confirmation letter with you. Shouldn't be a problem at the airport, however, the main issue will be from the country you are departing,i.e they may ask for your BRP prior boarding. Thanks

- just factor in whether an airline will permit a traveller with no obvious 'visa' to board their plane.

Can you please tell me how did you re-enter the UK when you travelled without BRP?

I am flying out from Heathrow to Chennai and back after 3 weeks. I will definitely keep the approval letter with me.
