Move from permanent employment to self employed

Post by tier1_again » Sun Oct 23, 2016 10:41 pm

Hi,

I have found this forum extremely useful in my couple of tier1 applications and then PR.
I am due to apply for my citizenship this December.
I have been on tier1 and then was granted PR and during the time I was in full time employment.
I have now moved into self employment from June this year.
I have the necessary tax documents till then.

When I moved into self employment my accountant has been advising me of the dividend that I should be taking and has also advised that I should not draw any salary this year as I have already paid enough taxes and NI this year when I was in permanent employment.

My question -

1.I believe a number of tax related documents are asked for when submitting the application. I will not have any for the self empoyment period as the tax returns for my company do not become due till next June. I will be able to submit the tax documents for my full time employment period. Is this ok?

2. My accountatnt is obviously advising me of tax efficiencies - hopefully this does not become an issue. Is there something specific that I need to look out for?

Regards
