BRP Replacement Problem

Post by southamerican » Sat Oct 29, 2016 1:16 pm

Hi guys,

I'm in a very unusual situation. Last weekend I lost a bag containing my BRP and Peruvian ID. Reported my BRP as lost the next day and was told I had three months to obtain a replacement. Since the BRP was more than 2 years old, I have to attach a current passport with my application.

My passport expired a while ago, so I contacted my embassy to obtain a new one. They told me I would have to obtain a replacement Peruvian ID card first in order to obtain a new passport and that this whole process would take at least four months!! At least one extra month outside the three month window given to me by the Home Office. According to the info in the Home Office's website, if I submit my application later than that, I risk paying a fine or having my ILR taken. Not being able to obtain the necessary documents in time leaves this situation completely out of my control...

Has anyone been in this sort of situation before or know what would be the best step to take?
Thanks very much!
