Spousal visa application, supporting documents

Post by Ksieniek » Tue Nov 08, 2016 3:00 pm

Hello everyone,

I am about to apply for the spousal visa with my American husband. As a sponsor I have collated all the required documents stating my financial situation, relationship status and tenancy agreement. All good, except for the fact that I don't know whether these documents should be submitted alongside the application from the states, on his part with his documents or will they be requested separately by the authorities in the U.K. Also what documents will there be required from my partner in the United States ? The guidance notes do not state exactly where and how these documents are to be submitted and by which party, whether me the sponsor or the applicant. I would be very happy if you could clarify all of the above for me.

Thank you very much.

All supporting documents should be submitted to Sheffield in the UK as per the instructions in the link above.

Once your husband has his reference when he submits his online application, this should be included with the sponsor documents you send from the UK.

For your husband note:
When you visit the ASC for your biometrics appointment, please take your current passport, a print out of your application form and a copy of your biometric confirmation receipt. You can print your receipt when you apply online.

Thank you very much for this reply. So I understand that whether I send my part of my documents from England or he sends his application all has to be directed to Sheffield. Do you know whether my husband's employment confirmation, and pay slips as proof of current employment , are actually required?
Again thanks for your help

Your husband's income in the US is irrelevant as you are required to meet the £18,600 p.a alone as his sponsor.
