Re: Pay IHS Surcharge AFTER Visa issued?

Post by xcrogers » Fri Jan 27, 2017 7:47 pm

Follow up...

I just got the request for payment link (and promptly paid). Seems strange that my visa was processed/approved/sent out with no check during that process and it took two days to get around to verifying that (perhaps through my own prodding). But either way, I'm happy to have the visa and have everything settled up!

Working while switching from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 Dependent

Post by xcrogers » Sun Jan 29, 2017 11:12 am

I just received my tier 2 general visa and would like to have my wife switch from her current Tier 2 ICT to be my dependent. We understand that this is generally not an issue.

However, she has just left her current role (job that sponsored her ICT visa) and has accepted a new role at a company in the UK. Her old company will likely notify UKVI of her termination at the conclusion of her current contract once final salary/compensation has been paid in February. Her new role begins the following day.

Questions:

Can she apply for a Tier 2 Dependent visa BEFORE her old company notifies UKVI?

Can she work for new company while Tier 2 Dependent visa is being processed or do we need to use the same day/priority service to have her dependent completed by her new company start date?

Please advise. Thank you.

1. She should apply for dependent visa as soon as possible, in person preferably if she wishes to start a new job.

2. No she cannot work for another employer until her dependent visa is granted. What proof of right to work will she present if she does not have a dependent visa yet?

Thank you for the comment. She'll apply for the dependent visa asap and we'll use a priority service.

Thanks again.

No update from UKVI on Tier 2 switch - Concerned?

Post by xcrogers » Sat Feb 04, 2017 11:06 am

My wife is switching from her current Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 Dependent. Here is the timeline, should we be concerned and is there anything we can do to check on the status?

Sunday Jan 29th - Applied online for priority service (10 day decision)
Monday Jan 30th - Application submitted online, IHS surcharge paid, supporting documents (passport, marriage certificate, current BRP) submitted through post
Tuesday Jan 31st - Material signed for (as seen on UK Post confirmation)
Wednesday - wife called and was told application is in process/review

It is now Saturday Feb 4th and we have not received the request for her to go to the Post office for a new biometrics. It would seem that we're getting close to/over the reasonable timeline for her to receive biometrics letter from them, submit biometrics and have the decision within 10 days.

Perhaps we're misunderstanding the 10 day decision process, or should we have received the biometrics request letter by now?

I employ a bunch of T2 champs but don't handle the visa side for them.

Ok, thanks. we're just concerned that we see the majority of the recent 'in-country' applications receiving their biometrics request letters 2-3 days after the initial application and its now been a week and we still haven't had that letter/request arrive. We even checked with the shop downstairs to see if something was incorrectly delivered. When my wife calls the calls they note that unless the application is more than 8 weeks overdue there is nothing we can do... which seems incorrect given we've paid for/using a 10 day service.

Frustrating...
