How much time I have to find next job after being redundant?

Post by sgk20 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 9:19 pm

Hi All,

I'm on a Tier2 General Visa. I had been made redundant a week ago and I'm still looking for a new job. How long can I stay in this country legally with my previous employer's Sponsorship visa to search for my next job?
My current Tier2 Visa expires on Dec'19.

Please advise any thoughts or ideas.

Many thanks,
sgk20

There is a whole process that will happen now.

Your ex employer will notify HO within 10 days of you leaving that you are no longer employed with them.

HO will then update their system and send you a curtailment letter giving you 60 days before you must leave the UK. This letter can take a while to be sent.

Suggest try find a new sponsor asap. You cannot work now either.

Hi CR001,
Thanks for your quick reply.

What you mean by "You cannot work now either." - you man I can't work for another sponser after government sent me the curtailment letter?

Thanks,
Gopi

You cannot work if you have left your previous sponsor and until you have applied for a new tier 2 visa with a new sponsor.

The new sponsor also has be HO approved and must complete the full and proper RLMT process before they can issue you with a CoS etc.

This may also hold same information but you have more choices to filter out.

Mod edit: 3rd party link removed

Good Luck with your search.
