Spouse visa extension query

Post by mk23 » Tue Feb 07, 2017 3:19 pm

Hi All,

A couple of queries regarding the extension of my wife’s via FLR (M) form.

I’m British (born and bred here) and returned to UK just over two years ago with my wife, who’s from South America, whom I met while I was living over there. We’ve been married and have lived together since 2013.

We’ll need to apply for her extension at end of September 2017 and are expecting our first our first child in August 2017!

I am employed in a salaried position earning slightly above the 18,600k threshold as well as earning additional self-employed income. My wife is employed full time in a salaried position earning minimum wage, as well having additional self-employed income. Additionally we have savings so all combined we should meet the financial requirements.

A few questions if anyone can help:
1) By the time the 28 days prior to her visa expiration arrives our child should have been born here. It’s my understanding that we’d just apply for a single applicant for her? (as our child who would not need to be included as they would have right to UK citizenship being child of UK national and born in UK)

2) As we’d still need to include our child in the form – does anyone know what we’d do in terms of documents for them? Not sure how long it takes to receive everything after birth.

3) My wife previously passed a Pearson English test when she initially applying for her visa, however I believe that the government no longer accepts tests from this body. She is currently study for her IELTS Academic - would this be acceptable, if she gains an equivalent score of A2?

Hope anyone can provide any information, and thanks in advance for any guidance provided.

Thanks!
