European invitation for a visitor (tourist) from Russia

Post by dipsomania » Sat Mar 04, 2017 11:12 am

Hello,
I'm an Italian guy who lives and works in UK since 2012. I'm writing here because I would know some info about the standard visitor visa for a my Russian friend. I should provide maintenance and accommodation to her, thus I think I will have to send her all documentation and evidences such as invitation letter, bank statements, payslips, bills and so on. However I have a big doubt about a thing: reading across the web (not on gov.uk) it seems I also need a proof of my immigration status. I hope that it is not something like a certificate of residence or permanent residence card. Is anybody here who is able to dispelling my doubts?

Thanks,
G.

Your passport should be sufficient.

What evidence is your friend going to submit to prove her personal, financial circumstances and her ties to her home country?

Hello CR001,
Thank you for the reply. Yes, she will be also able to submit all those proofs.

Cheers,
G.

Bear in mind that if you are in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship she will need to declare this in her application.

Hello,
Yes, we're in relationship at the moment, however which legal differences (or further issues) are if we don't declare it on the application?

Thanks,
G.

If you don't declare the relationship in the application you face the following issues:

1. If your girlfriend is questioned by the Immigration Officer at UKVI Border Control and it's found that she is in a relationship with someone in the UK and this hasn't been disclosed in her application, she could be refused entry. IO's are experience in asking the right questions to uncover the truth.

2. If later on you want to submit an application for her to join you in the UK for settlement you will be required to provide evidence of a genuine relationship and how long this has been in existence. By not mentioning it in a visitor visa application you may be digging yourself into a deep hole in the future.

All information submitted in previous applications is held on the UKVI for cross-matching with subsequent statements.

Thank you very much for your advices, Casa. Yes, we have already planned her settlement in the UK, after our marriage in my country. However, it won't happen in a short time. :)

Cheers,
G.
