British Citizenship Application: between jobs appointment

Post by manorey » Sun Mar 12, 2017 4:42 pm

Hi All,

My wife and I have held our ILR (through 5Y Tier1) for 12 month now (9 April 2016 issued date) and have booked a appointment for 11 April 2017 through NCS to apply for british citizenship and passport at the same time.

There is one thing I'm not sure though. My current job (that I have resigned from) ends 2 days before our appointment date and I'm planning to take 2 weeks off before starting the new job (which I have the contract for) which leaves me technically unemployed on the day of application.

Question is:

- Will this in any shape affect my application?
- Which employer should I put on the form?
- Do I need letter from employer? Would the contract with the new company suffice?
- Is there any reason why I should worry and postpone my application to a date AFTER I start my new job?

Thanks!

Employment is not a requirement for naturalisation. Housewives meeting the requirements also get naturalised.

What will be looked at is your taxation and income history and whether you have met the requirements for your leave to remain in the UK at all times during your stay in the UK. That will evaluated for the "good character" requirements.
