Cash Savings for Spouse Visa

Post by Adora17 » Sun Mar 26, 2017 5:17 pm

I am a singapore national married to a uk national. Married since July 1984 but lived outside the UK. Our older 3 (out of 4) children are living in Wales and England. We both live and work in Dubai. Our 16 year old is living with us in Dubai. We're planning to apply for spousal visa. My husband is past retirement age and has a UK pension (approx GBP 900 per quarter). I own a residential property outright in North Yorkshire. Most of our savings (well over the min requirement) are in my name and has been in the account for the last few years. Can we use this as proof of our savings even though it's in my sole name. We do have joint accounts for daily expenses. Would appreciate your advice. Many thanks.

Savings in either of your names is acceptable provided it is immediately accessible and been held for a minimum of 6 months and no less than £62,500.

Thank you. What a relief. Was on phone with bank manager this morning to juggle funds but there's no need to do that now. Kids (grown up) are keen for us to go live in the UK but we're not so keen on the weather
Most of our funds are in foreign currencies in Kuala Lumpur. Is that going to be a problem? Thanks again

No won't be a problem but it must be a minimum of £62,500 based on the exchange rate Home Office uses.
