Consecutive 90 days counting

Dear Gurus,

Regarding maintenance funds statements, I have read two items:

1-If you are in the UK, you must have at least £945 of personal savings which must have held for a consecutive 90 day period prior to the date of application.

2-The most recent statement must be dated no more than 31 days before the date of application.

The case:

If the date of application is 27/5

The date of last bank statement is 30/4

Do they count back the 90 days from 27/5 or from 30/4 ?

Item one says 90 days prior to date of application,
Item two says it is possible if the last statement dated no more than 31 days.

Confused !!

90 consecutive days form the date of the final bank statement. However this final date must be no earlier than 31 days before the 'application date'

The Immigration rules Appendix C, paragraph 1A(h) says:

(h) the end date of the 90-day period ... will be taken as the date of the closing balance on the most recent of the specified documents (where specified documents from two or more accounts are submitted, this will be the end date for the account that most favours the applicant), and must be no earlier than 31 days before the date of application.
