Form T

Hi

I am in a process of pulling together evidence for my sons British citizenship. I am an EU national and his father is not British so the form T applies . I just wanted to check what experiences people have. I have friends telling me I absolutely must use a solicitor to do this. Has anyone done it by themselves? I was at home with my son for his first 2 years so only have hospital records through NHS (we unfortunately used NHS quite a lot when he was little and I managed to get copies the records) after that he was in private nurseries and I only have records of paying then using childcare vouchers . Then school is well documented .

He is nearly 12 now...

Any advice or experiences that you can share would be most welcome !

I was at home with my child for his first 2 years - mainly because he had some health problems and we were awaiting operations (he had 2)

I have the following :
Full medical records - federal letters, red book, GP record like a report listing out all dealings with them

Statement of childcare vouchers account - showing transactions from my employer to 2 nurseries which he attended since he was 2 years old to when he was 3 and then childcare vouchers from age of 5. This looks like a gap in record but I didn't claim childcare vouchers for some of the time as I was just separated from his father and it wa snore beneficial for me not to and to get some working tax credits instead

Working tax credits and child tax credit award statements - from birth to when I stopped receiving them few years ago as I didn't need them

School reports and a letter confirming that he attended school since 2009

I don't really have much of original letters sent from his first nurseries when he was 2-4 years old and I m not able to get through to them ! Even if I do I m not certain they will have a record of my son from 8 or 10 years ago

I was thinking to ask some people who know him since he was a baby to write a letter of recommendation would this be a good idea ? It's a lot of effort I think .

Any other records that would be helpful?

One more question - a friend contacted a solicitor and apparently the solicitor says form T is a very difficult route and you have to provide copies of all flights for the period of 10 years . I didn't see that in the guide but is this right ?! I was only able to list out dates of when we travelled (and we travelled a lot )mostly from analysing photos and my memory... is that enough ?!

If you/a parent has PR, then it may be easier to register child under Section 1(3).

I would prefer to use form T just need some advice to ensure I have the right documentation

Once you've got your pr just use mn1 form and register child as British under section 1(3)(if your child was born here in the UK).The easiest way although not cheap.

Sorry but this doesn't help me - I have my reasons why I have to use form t. So I would like advice on form T no the other one. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate it if you share it with me.
