PR and bankruptcy

Post by adamanta » Tue May 09, 2017 12:01 pm

Hi,

How does the bankruptcy affect PR application?

I am EU-national, my husband in non-EU. Long story short I have big financial difficulties and considering declaring myself bankrupt. How would it affect my PR application? How would it affect my husband's PR application as he is dependent on me?

Regards.

I am working full-time and will continue to work. I have made an application for PR (2 months of waiting atm) together with husband. I am expecting his application to be rejected, but mine to be successful (10+ years in the UK, continuously working full-time last 6 years).

I guess I will have to wait for him to get PR and then become bankrupt :(

I suggest that you read through the CAB link before you make any decision and it would be advisable to seek their advice on whether this is Bankruptcy right for you.

You should also note that you have aspirations to apply for British Citizenship, being bankrupt will likely result in a refusal if you choose to apply.
