US to UK Holiday Advice

Post by Purejaz » Thu May 11, 2017 10:32 am

Hi All,

Having received invaluable advice last year, my GF (who is US) was able to spend an enjoyable 3 months of her summer with me in the UK.

Now we are planning, her visit this year (but this time for only 10 days). But want to make sure that we are not complacent, ensuring she brings the relevant documents/proof.

As a result i have a few questions i was hoping to get some help on:

1) She is currently looking at flights with a connection in Dublin before arriving in London. Will she pass immigration in Dublin, so that her journey to London would be considered domestic?. If so how does Irish immigration compare to London?

2) She will be bringing the following documentation, to prove ties back to the US:
- Rental Agreement (she has a year contract)
- Letter of confirmation of holiday approval from her boss (proof of job)
- Itinerary (proof of what we are going to do over those 10 days)
- She will be bringing no physical cash. As she will be using her credit card,
due to the no foreign transaction fees and better exchange rate. Should she
bring a credit card statement showing, that her limit is X.

Anything else worth bringing?.

Regards,
