Tier 5 (Gov authorised exchange) to Unmarried partner visa

Post by achk » Tue May 23, 2017 12:30 am

Hello,

Looking for some help & advice when it comes to my specific situation...

I'm currently working in London on a tier 5 (government authorised exchange) visa... It's due to expire on Oct 3rd.

I have been living with my boyfriend for 1 & half years - it will be 2 years officially on August 28.

Wondering if people who have gone through a similar process can offer things to look out for in the application process?

In particular, I'm also wondering if my 2years of living with my boyfriend becomes official on August 28th, should I pay for my application for that date, or arrange for my in person interview for a date after August 28th? ( I will be using the in person premium service) . The reason I'm wondering is because ideally I'd like not to wait till August 28th to pay & arrange a meeting after that in case something goes wrong & I have extra time as "cushion room" if that makes sense.

Thanks so much in advance. Hoping the forum could help shed some light!

Do you have rock solid evidence for the whole two years (by August) of living together 'in a relationship akin to marriage'??

If you apply before the 2 year mark of living together and having evidence, you risk refusal.

Yes, we have bills & flat rental contract to prove it...

My question is more if the application date begins when you pay for the application online, or when you actually attend the interview/hand in your document?

Amazing - very useful. Thanks so much...!

Any other advice from anyone else who has been through this process would be fantastic.
