How to expedite Spouse Visa application due to bereavement

Post by egoneo » Wed May 24, 2017 4:17 pm

A family member has passed which will mean my wife will need her passport back to travel for the funeral. We applied back in Early April From USA, Miami although her actual location is Grenada (there isnt a visa application center in Grenada) and my wife is Nigerian.

We emailed the UKBA asking them to expedite this. They ignored the expedite part and said her options are to withdraw the application, and not get a refund or too request an emergency passport for travel.

Since there are no embassies in Grenada she cannot travel to the nearest embassy to get her passport in another country, so that's not an option.

***QUESTION****

1.What is the proper way to expedite an application due to extenuating circumstances
2. Is it possible to receive the passport back just for travel and return it when done?

Losing the application will add another pain of loss which we want to try and avoid. Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks.
