visas for elderly parents from EEA

Post by LADISLAVA » Fri May 26, 2017 11:38 am

Dear All,

I am trying to find out how I can bring my elderly parents who are EU citizens (Czech Republic citizens) to the UK in the future. It is not clear what options people who settled here from EU have. I have worked in the UK for the last 8 years and I hold permanent residence certificate. I have been married to a British citizen for 2 years. My sister has also settled in the UK. She holds indefinite leave to remain and has been married to a British citizen for the last 17 years. They have two children. Both me and my system are going to apply for British citizenship which I assume we will get as we meet all the criteria. I also have a brother who lives in Czech Republic. He is married but has serious health issues and will not be able to take responsibility for caring for my parents in the future.

My mum is 75 years old and my dad is 78 years old. Is there a chance I could get a visa for them to bring them here and look after them? Could I bring at least one of my parents if the other one dies? What route can I use if the UK is still in EU? What route can I use once the UK leaves EU?

If it is difficult to bring my parents to the UK is there a time restriction on how many years I can live in Czech Republic with my English husband and then return to the UK? I would have my British citizenship sorted before we move out. Can British citizenship be taken away if I stay too long?

Thank you for your advice. The current situation is confusing and leave me uncertain about my family future.

Thank you

Best Regards
