Children born outside UK - father ILR

Post by sallu10224 » Sun Jun 04, 2017 3:08 pm

Hello

I am on ILR and my wife is on FLR M (dependent of settled person). She is currently back home where she recently gave birth to our twins.

I still have a few more months to go before getting British citizenship, so I am aware that the children are not eligible for naturalisation by descent.

My questions are:

1. What is type of application required for my kids in this situation?

2. What documents are required from me?

3. Do they need to pay IHS?

I would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on these....

Thanks

Children will follow the immigration path of their less-privileged parent (in this case, the mother) and will be issued visas in line with the mother's till ILR. They will be eligible to register as British citizens when the mother and children gets ILR.

Yes, IHS will be payable throughout the whole route for all three (mother and twins).

Had the children been born in the UK, they would have been British citizens by birth, as you have ILR.
