Employment vs Contract

Post by KGtier1 » Tue Jun 13, 2017 10:16 am

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading the blog and must say it has provided me with a lot of valuable information.

I am a Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur visa holder.I have been working on my business idea and meanwhile I got in touch with a potential client. He is offering me 3 months accounting assignment which would mean me working full time for the assignment. I have a lot of flexibility to work on weekdays or weekend.Additionally, although I can work from home, I would prefer to work from their premises as its more convenient.

I read on one of the online blogs that if I work for one year Monday-Friday for one client, this may amount to employment. My assignment is however shorter(3 months). The fees from the assignment will be around 3000-5000£. Lastly,I would like to propose 50 percent fees before the start of my assignment and remaining at the end of the assignment. Does it seem ok or should I propose monthly fees?

Thanks,
KG

Unlike Tier 1 Entrepreneur migrants, Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur visa holders may work outside of their business in a second job.

Thanks for the information @zimba88 . Do you have any reference point for this difference? Any case or immigration law backing it?

https://www.gov.uk/tier-1-graduate-entr ... a/overview

Have a look at things "You can't do". There is no restriction to a second job

Thank you so much . Does this mean I can apply for a job and be on a company's payroll vs contracting?

Yes, that is what it looks like.
