UK based child Mother in Thailand

Post by galactus_hungers » Fri Jun 09, 2017 4:43 pm

Hi ok so this may of been asked and answered before so I'm really sorry if that's the case, this is my situation

I lived for 3 years in Thailand got a girlfriend and 2 and a bit years ago we got engaged and had a baby in Thailand, we had a marriage visa denied by a judge with a favourable refusal, we both decided the best thing for the baby would be for me to bring her to the UK for a better standard of life, so I got her a UK passport and over we came, the separation of the mother and daughter was hard and caused issues resulting in me and the mother breaking up. Its taken some time to get back on my feet financially and I would like for my daughter mother to come to the UK to visit us for a while as per the (https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk) family Visa for a couple for years and look to increase that dependant on how things go.

I'm happy to provide sponsorship and take care of my daughters mother while she is in the UK as i feel is important to give my daughter the support of both of us in her life, her mother has waited in Thailand for 2 years and not see her apart from skype, facebook and the usually social media methods.

When I visit visa4uk I seem to only find what I'm looking for under the settlement > settlement > parent, grandparent or other dependant and I'm worried about throwing £2000 down the line and probably applying for the wrong visa. What my best avenue here, get back together and apply as my partner or as a parent and try to explain she has a legal right for access?

im attempting to apply for the family visit visa that is valid for 33 months
Im looking at the coming to look after your child avenue as me and the mother of our child are no longer together but we parted ways civily and i would like for her to have the oppertunity to come to the UK to see her daughters life and be more of a part in ti

https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/eligibility - is the page for the visa i want

when i log into visa4uk the only path i can see is

Reason for Visit - settlement
Visa Type - settlement
Visa Sub Type -parent, grandparent or other dependant relative

but is this the right path? as im worried of throwin 1500 quid down the drain on an incorrect selection

You are mistaken. There is no such visit visa as "family visit visa that is valid for 33 months".

If you are no longer in a relationship with the mother, she doesn't qualify for a settlement visa.

She also most definitely does not qualify for an Adult Dependent Relative settlement visa either, which costs a lot more than £1500 and is virtually impossible to get.

It may help to read through this thread on Access to Child visa.
