Unused spousal visa

Hi. My sister-in-law's UK spousal visa expires this August but due to changes in their family circumstances (her having their second baby and unforeseen changes in my brother's work commitments) her visa has never been used as she has never travelled to the UK. My brother and both their children are British citizens living abroad. Will my sister-in-law be allowed to enter the UK for two weeks only in July on her unused spousal visa as they need to travel to the UK to renew their son's passport? They will not be settling in the UK this time but plan to do so at a later date. I would be grateful for any advice.
