Permanent Residency Application as EU citizen without CSI

Post by ngparos » Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:52 am

Hi everyone,

I have been living in the UK for 12 years now as an EU citizen (Cypriot) and recently decided to apply for permanent residency due to this whole Brexit thing.

I filled in my application online and came across this CSI (health insurance) thing which I don't have. I arrived here in 2005 when I was 12 years old with my family. I went to a high school in England for 5 years. I was a minor dependent on my mother who was self-employed in the UK.

I went to university for 5 years in Scotland from the age 18 to 23 and have been in employment for the last 2 years.

Since I don't have the CSI it says I do not qualify for the total of 5 years residence and therefore cannot apply. However, surely I was covered by NHS since my mum was self-employed and I was dependent on her. According to this, I only qualify for the last 2 years that I have been working. I have no idea if my initial 5 years count because I cannot include them in my application. Technically, I was studying at university without health insurance which I never ever needed (and was not aware of at the time!)

Any ideas please?

Thanks a lot!

Following my post might be helpful for you as I am in a similar situation.

I believe your mother can sponsor you for the period when you were a student if she has been working and financially supporting you and an EEA citizen (ie, Greek only, not Dual British and Greek).

Why can't you include them? They look like the best 5 years to use! However, any five consecutive years from arrival to reaching the age of 21 should be acceptable.
