Changing employer affect ILR?

Post by edios0204 » Wed Jun 28, 2017 6:27 pm

Hello,

I'm currently on a Tier 2 General.

My first Tier 2 was issued in Aug 2013, and then was renewed in Sept 2016 - which expires Aug 2019.
I will be eligible to apply for ILR in Aug 2018.

Does changing my employer (sponsor) affect my eligibility for ILR?

I'll have continuous residence and continuous employment, just not with the original sponsor of my initial Tier 2 and the extended tier 2. SOC code may change in my new job.

Thank you.

Thank you CR001.

My new employer (currently conditional offer depending on new COS issued) thinks that changing sponsor could prevent me from getting ILR so they're having second thoughts!

Would you by any chance know whether there is a Government article on this?

It does not. the requirement is that you must have 5 years residence as a Tier 2 General migrant. It does not state you can only stay with one employer the whole 5 years.

ILR is not your employers concern to be honest.

Many members have had success with ILR and more than one employer. Your question is not unique.

The important question you should be asking is has your new sponsor completed the full and proper RLMT process??

Thank you CR001.

Yes, they assured me in terms of RLMT. I don't know why ILR just became an issue to them especially when I have more than 2 years left on my current Tier 2!

Just make sure you don't resign from your current job before your get the new visa.
