Application online: 5 november 2019
Biometrics: 7 november 2019
Priority application: yes
Called premium number on 11 december 2019 - told awaiting decision.
2nd call to premium number 16 december 2019 - told awaiting decision
Not straight forward email: 17 december 2019 (day 28 of 30)
Escellated via phone: 19 december 2019 (day 30 of 30)
Email recieved back: 20 december 2019 saying mandatory checks and further extended checks needed on my application and no time can be given as to when application will be decided

16 january 2020 email and txt to say visa application has been processed and collect passport

17 january 2020 passport collected

VISA GRANTED
Alhamdulillah

I am so happy and relieved as I was expecting a disappointment but allah did not let me down

Wishing u all the very best and praying 4 u girls ms1993 Eliza Razia and many others I hope u guys too get the reply soon

Lesson to be learnt: dont let the not straight forward email make u lose hope!
Alhamdulillah! I'm so happy for you! I wish you all the best. :)
By the way, why did you think they needed those extra mandatory and further extended checks on your husband's application?

I'm not sure if I even did or not
Maybe they just didnt complete my application in time that's why i was automatically sent that email about not straight forward and same generic email saying about further checks

I was not contacted at all during this process
Neither was my work place
So noT sure what was so not straight fwd

Maybe just took them longer to go thru all the evidence I submitted and to understand some of it

As I've always said my case was straight fwd apart from fact hes younger but then they cannot discriminate based on age

Visa type: Spouse Settlement (Wife)

• Standard or Priority: Standard

• Visa processing office: Colombo, Sri Lanka

• Online application submitted: 15th October 2019

• All documents scanned/uploaded: 30th October 2019

• Biometrics taken: 30th October 2019

• Email from Decision Making Centre: 31st October 2019 - 'Thank you for your online application which has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.'

Email to check if has been considered on the 14th November and replied same day that all supporting documents have been received by the HO now and awaiting decision.

Employer contacted: no
Sponsor contacted: no

Last saw my wife back in June 2019 when I was flying back to the UK, our lives are on hold until we hopefully fingers crossed get her settlement visa approved. Btw we did use a specialist immigration lawyer who has had a very high success rate 👍.

Update:
17th January VAC called my wife asked her to go and collect passport her on Monday. We haven’t heard anything back from the Home Office to date. fingers crossed my wife gets her visa 🙏🏽. Everyone else going through this ordeal please be patient it will happen to you 👍

How do you know you got the Visa after 14 days? In your last quote it said you've been waiting since 20 days? Is this for a wife or husband?

The letter from the HO is from the 9.1.. so the decision made after 14 working days.
There was a mistake in the address of the delivery of my passport.. so I got it just now.
Without the mistake I used to get it a week.

I believe you can appeal within 28 after getting a decision. It can take anywhere from 18 months - 2 years to hear back on a appeal. I think the solicitor can do it. Although best to check with solicitor as I'm not too sure.

When you are waiting on a application and you call the helpline to get an update, do they give you a update straightway or do they phone you back? Has anyone tried the helpline. Please let me know

If appeal rights is not granted you can reapply immediately.... ensure that the reasons why the application was refused initially is properly addressed.

Most people waste alot of money on ringing them... alot of people just get told the same awaiting decision as the helpline workers cant access your files.. all they can see is in process awaiting decision or decision made...
Alot of people on here said they escalated their case a number of times to no response back at all..

I rang them twice to be told awaiting decision
Then after my priority 30 days were over I rang and escalated my case and recieved an email back from them the next day saying they are doing extended checks and cant specify a time for when a decision will be made

Many on here never get a response back at all or if they do its just the same generic response
