FLR(M) Financial Requirement - applicant only

Post by skittlebrau » Tue Jul 04, 2017 12:11 pm

Hello,

I hope I'm not dredging up an old topic, I've done lots of searching and am looking for some peace of mind from those in the same situation!

My British boyfriend and I (Australian) will be getting married next year, and I then applying for a FLR(M)/Spouse Visa following that (I am currently on a Tier 5 YMS expiring in April 2018).
I work full time and have done for the same company since I arrived in April 2016, and will be continuing to do so at the same company should/once my application is approved. I earn above the £18,600 threshold. My partner is a student who doesn't qualify from his degree until July 2018, and although he currently receives a bursary that is eligible to put forward in the application for the financial requirement it is below the minimum amount, so I will be applying with just my salary to meet the financial requirements.

I know that either the sponsors or applicants, or both combined, salary is taken into account so I am technically okay to apply in this way, I was just wondering if I may run into any issues or potential questionings as it is just the applicant being the one to meet the financial requirement? I imagine it's not a particularly common (but I could be wrong)?
My partner will be earning more than me once he qualifies, however with that being just a few months after we need to submit our application it's not quite relevant information. I'm happy to still submit his financial information in addition to mine and explain the situation, just in case.

Thanks in advance, apologies if I am just overthinking it :)
