Actually good point I'm sure ilr takes the same time. I did same day service!

Pity there is no 'one day service' for citizenship but given the checks they do, it would be impossible.

My citizenship application in 2012 took 5.5 weeks from NCS appointment to approval letter and then a further 2 weeks till the ceremony date.

Oh wow that's quite quick, may be easier because of ancestry then ilr?

My steps in the process were :

2008 - Ancestry
2010 March - Switched to Spouse visa within the UK
2012 March - ILR
2012 mid October - Citizenship Application NCS
2012 End November - Approval letter and ceremony invitation
2012 Mid December - Ceremony

You should anticipate at least a couple of months and possible a bit longer now though.
