Vignette Transfer - Ancestry Visas

Post by lllewelll » Fri Jul 07, 2017 8:51 pm

I obtained an Ancestry Visa for myself and spouse, but by the time were were able to travel to the UK, both entry vignettes had expired, so we had to enter the UK on visitor's visors.

My question is: Can I apply for the TOC via post with the UK, as it **seems** from the application guidelines
or do I have to leave the country to do this?

I am guessing that, even IF it's possible to receive TOC re-issuance of vignette, we would have to exit and re-enter the UK to activate our Ancestry Visas. Is this true, or can we simply benefit from the Ancestry Visas by being granted a right to abide/Biometric Residence Permit?

This is sort of urgent as I need to resolve this predicament/make plans to move forward, quite soon.

Many thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have entered the UK on a visitor visa. Doing this could possibly invalidate your Ancestry visa.

You should have applied for a new 30 vignette in your home country (it only takes a few days) BEFORE travelling to the UK.

You cannot apply for this new 30 day vignette in the UK.

As a visitor, you are not able to rent a property, work or anything, so not sure how long you have been here and what you have done so far.
