Query about citizenship and expired PP

Post by juhi » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:19 am

Hi all,
Need some advice from experts/experienced people on the following-

We had our FLR done in 2016 and received the BRP CARD valid until 2019.
I would like to know if we could apply for our kids' citizenship as soon as I get ILR or do they also have to apply for ILR first? (father is British citizen)

Important question- Our PPs have expired and to avoid the cost of renewals for 3 pps which is obviously £££s and for that we also need to get a document from our country to assure that we still are the citizens of that country and do not hold dual passports. For which alone it costs £200 and we need 3 each. Hence we did not renew, so we could directly apply for the British PP at the time of citizenship. Will It be ok to submit expired pp at the time of ILR?
Have any of you had experienced this before. Would be very grateful to get some insight.
TIA

You have already been given the advice on this question by vinny in the link below. As your children were born overseas, they require ILR before they can apply for citizenship and will follow the same route as you. Their father now being naturalised does not change this requirement.

british-citizenship/when-to-apply-for-c ... l#p1293531

indefinite-leave-to-remain/can-i-apply- ... l#p1367732

You do realise that the fee to register a child as British is currently £937 plus a separate British passport fee.

You will need to renew your passports. They will be required for ILR as you must have a valid passport and you need to prove residence for citizenship with passports for the whole qualifying period.
