Random exit checks by border force (how frequent?)

Dear all,

I know that exit checks are normally done via automatic transmission of information from airlines to Home Office in the UK. However, I am also aware that there are random checks by border force officials in the airports.

I was wondering about your experiences regarding these random checks by border police? Which airports have most frequent checks and which ones have the rarest in the UK? In particular what are your experiences related to Heathrow terminal 2, Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol.

We certainly don't need another topic becoming one where everyone throws in their 3 pence comments adding no value.

Sorry for not being clear about my purpose. I am doing a research on freedom of travel and Brexit, and discussions in forums is a part of my methodology.

Any personal experiences are appreciated.
