Right to Work while waiting for visa renewal

I have seen on many forums people discussing this topic, and it seems the answer is that my visa/work status continues after the expiry of my initial (spouse) visa, as long as I have submitted my (F)LTR application before my expiry date (I have).

I am looking for official government documentation which states this.

All the links I've found on forums are out of date, and I'm having no luck looking directly on gov.uk.

My employer is telling me they've had advice that they will not be able to legally employ me after the date my initial visa expires, and they are asking me to provide evidence otherwise.

Can anyone provide a link to government-issued advice regarding this situation?
