Uk spouse visa financial requirements

Post by Edward123 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 8:58 am

Hi
I am currently on a student visa and planning to marry my girlfriend which I have known for 8 years but the student visa stricts me to only working 20 hours per week which by default I won't be able to earn 18600 per year
My questions are can I obtain a full-time job if I marry her so I can meet the financial requirements? I have no problem working two jobs to do so
Does she have to be the one earning this amount or it can be either of us ?
How long do I have to wait to marry her and apply for a spouse visa ? Been here for two weeks now
That's it and thank you for your time if you read this a reply would help me so much thanks again.

Is your girlfriend British or otherwise settled in the UK?

Joint income can be used BUT you cannot breach your 20 hour a week restriction on working and just getting married DOES NOT change this fact.

You can apply once you meet ALL the requirements and you are married. You also must submit 6 months evidence of payslips and banks statements proving the financial requirement is met.

You are required to give 28 days notice to marry at an HO approved Registry. They will notify HO and this notice period could be extended to 70 days for HO to investigate/interview each of you separately before you will be given permission to marry.

So suggest if you have only just arrived in the UK, to wait a bit otherwise it might look like you only applied for a student visa because you did not meet the requirements for a spouse visa.
