UK Tier 2 dependent PBS visa extension

Post by nilhat » Tue Jul 25, 2017 12:39 pm

Good afternoon
I have a query related my husbands immigration status. My husband's and my visa status are as follows:
1 Sept 2010- he arrived at the UK on a Tier 4 PBS visa (he was a full time student)
25 August 2011 - I arrived at the UK on on a Tier 2 general PBS migrant visa (employer sponsored)
20 March 2013 - we got married
until March 10 2016 he was on Tier 4 student visa
March 10, 2016- he switched his visa to Tier 2 dependant
I got my ILR on 1 August 2016

His visa (Tier 2 general dependent visa) will expire soon and he needs to apply for an extension. Could you please advise which visa type will be better for extension? Can he choose 10-year route for his ILR? What kind of documents he needs to provide his visa application?

Thanks
Niloufar

he has 2 options. Either apply for pbs extension as your dependent, and he will get 3 year extension.
Or he could apply for flrm, get 2.5 years extension.
He can apply for 10 years when he completes them.
He should have become your dependent soon after your marriage, would have saved him time to change to ilr, but nothing can change now.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have a further query. I am getting child benefit for my children (I applied not my husband). Does this cause any problem for my husband's visa extension or IRL application? In addition, can I apply for 30 hours free childcare funding?

Kind regards
Niloufar

Thank you very much for your reply.
One more question. I try to work out that how he can get only one extension before his ILR application. For a Tier 2 dependent visa extension, will my husband get excatly three years or will he be given some additional time on top of 3 years?

Kind regards
Zuhal

A PBS extension is granted for exactly 3 years.

Hello
My husband filled in the online PBS dependent visa extension application form. Although he responded a question related to my current situation as I have an ILR, in the form, there was a question related to remaining duration of my Certificate of Sponsorship. My last CoS has not expired yet, but I used it in 2015 to extend my visa last time before my ILR application. I could not understand why this question was asked. Do I need a new COS to be able to extend my husband's visa?
Thanks,
Niloufar
