Change of Employer and Criminal Record Certificate

Hello!

I am currently working under Tier 2 - General permit since October 2015 and would soon be applying for a new visa from within the UK as I will be changing employer. I've read in the guidance that the criminal record check is not applicable for those who will be extending their stay in the UK.

My question is, as I will only be switching employers, would that exempt me from providing a criminal record certificate as well?

And my dependant who has been with me since November 2016 would also be renewing his visa soon. Would he also be exempted from providing a criminal record certificate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
