Tier 2 ICT > Tier 5

Post by nignaten » Mon Jul 31, 2017 7:14 pm

Hi all,

I have seen that there is no cooling off period between the end of a Tier 2 General and being able to apply for a Tier 5 YMT. Is this the case for the Tier 2 ICT as well?

Thank you!

Yes. You must apply from home country obviously.

Thank you for the answer!

Do I need to do anything with the current ICT? Or just apply for a new visa from home?

Nothing, it will be cancelled automatically if your Tier 5 is granted.

Are you a national of a qualifying country for the Tier 5 YMS visa?

Yes, I am Canadian under 30.

My current ICT is getting curtailed due to redundancy, so I need to think of other options :(

If you meet the requirements then should be good to go.

Do you have a UK born grandparent by any chance?

Remember that Tier 5 does not lead to ILR.

No, no ancestry options :(

Yes, I am aware that it does not lead to ILR. I will need to find a way to get back on Tier 2, but General this time. I guess the cooling off period after the ICT will affect that?

No it won't. Tier 5 YMS is for 2 years, no issue with applying for Tier 2 General at that point as long as it is at least 12 months from the date you left the UK.
