Unmarried Partner visa between Japanese and German Citizen

Post by Bewitchedstar » Wed Aug 09, 2017 7:10 am

Hello Everyone! It's my first time here. Here's my situation:

I'm a Japanese citizen but born and raised in The Philippines, and my boyfriend is German. We've been together for 4 years.
We're currently living together in Tokyo for almost 3 years. The rent is under his name but I'm still registered under this address. We also travelled together to different countries.

He's leaving for his Masters in the U.K this September for a year. We obviously want to stay together that's why I recently applied for the YMS but got rejected --- I didn't have a certificate of sponsorship from the Japanese Authorities because I didn't join the ballot. So now we're looking into the EEA Family Permit.

A couple of things got us worried. First is that there's this section where it states that "An EEA Family Permit may be refused: if the applicant would have been refused entry to the UK on general grounds for refusal had they been applying for entry under the Immigration Rules" Does that mean, I might get refused because of my YMS refusal?. Secondly, We may be living together, but we don't have any joint accounts. I have access to his accounts but I don't know if that's enough proof. Next, It doesn't state how much I'll be needing to pass the financial field. I'm a Semi FT, and since last Feb, I am earning 1,050 pounds per month (taxable). Of course there were times that I depend on my Boyfriend's resources but again, I don't know how to prove that. Last but not the least, He's going there as a non-working student for only a year. Will that be a problem too? I really don't know how strong our situation will be.

Should we push through with applying this visa even If I just recently got rejected for YMS? We can provide photos, videos, messages, and letter that we've lived together in the same address. If not, is there any alternative that we can try?

Looking forward to your responses.

Big Thanks,
Stef
