(Tier 2 General) What is PhD level job?

Post by xuchang1032 » Sun Aug 13, 2017 11:04 pm

Hi everyone,

I am looking forward to apply for a ILR, but I don't know whether I meet the requirements for salary criteria. Hope you guys can give me some advices.

I am a research assistant under SOC 2119 in a university. Job descriptions are: develop / undertake research in area of...; paper writing...plan and conduct research... analysis data...balabala. I don't have a PhD degree. My salary is 29000 which is lower than 35,000. In this case, I thought if my job is PhD level, then I can apply for ILR without salary criteria.

So, guys, that's the problems I am facing.
1. Does a PhD level job requires a PhD degree??
2. Is my job a PhD level one??

Really appreciated if you can help me! :)

Maybe I can answer this question now.
I found a useful page to tell this https://www.hr.admin.cam.ac.uk/hr-servi ... imum-skill

In this page, it tells a Research Assistant may eligible to apply for ILR. and a PhD level job don't need the applicants to hold a PhD degree.

"Where an appointment is made to an Academic or Research role, such vacancies will commonly be classified within a PhD level SOC Code (Please note: there is no requirement for those working in a PhD level SOC code to actually hold a PhD. It simply means that the work the person will do is skilled to that level)."

2119 is a PhD level job and you don't have to have a PhD to do the job.
