Switch from Tier 2 sponsored visa to ancestry?

Hi there,

I am in a similar position and wondering if there was ever an outcome to the other questions posted?
I am over on a Tier 2 visa and would like to switch to Ancestral (understand I need to go back to my home country to do this) - but will the time on my Tier 2 still count to ILR and secondly when applying for ancestral visa would I still need to pay all the healthcare surcharges if I have been living in the UK paying taxes?

Only for 10 years long residence. For ILR based on 5 years, you need EITHER 5 years Tier 2 or 5 years Ancestry visa.

Paying tax, this does not exempt you from paying the £1,000 health surcharge for the Ancestry visa application.
