Is my child entitled to register?

Post by JonjoAntonia » Tue Aug 15, 2017 6:18 pm

I have had ILR for over 10 years now and so has my husband. We were not born in the UK and our child was born abroad and is not a UK descentant. I plan to apply for naturalisation very soon and I just want to know if I should register my child. He is 16.

No entitlement to registration for children born abroad of non-British parents.

Your child can apply for registration at discretion under Section 3(1) when all three (the child and the two parents) have ILR/ILE and at least one parent is applying to naturalise.

Child needs to have residence of at least two years in the UK and must also meet the good character requirements.

So If i apply to naturalise, I can apply for my child to register and I am assuming if I succeed then he does?
