Unmarried partner Visa - I have just completed my PhD

Post by HKUKPhDStudent » Thu Aug 17, 2017 8:02 am

Hi all!

I just wanted to know if anyone has come across this kind of case as every time I read all the requirements I get all the more confused!

Here is my case:
I have been studying my PhD abroad for the past 3 years, for the last 2 years my studentship has met the financial requirement of 18600gbp per year.
I have a job offer when I return to the UK which is over 18600gbp per year.
I have evidence of being in a live-in relationship with my boyfriend.
All other requirements are met (that I know of!)

My question is: I have a letter that states the amount per year that I have been awarded, as well as payslips for the last 6 months(Should I include 12months or is that too much?). Do I also need to include the bank statements? My only worry with my bank statements is that my partner and I use my bank account to pay for our full amount of rent which leaves me with a very small balance once rent + credit card bills etc is deducted, but they will be able to see that my studentship is paid into my account very month. Should I include my partners bank account statements showing that his account is not used for rent?

Thanks so much! :D

The ECO won't be interested in how you spend your income, only that you've met the equivalent earnings level of £18,600 outside of the UK and have a confirmed job offer starting within 3 months of arrival, again meeting the £18,600 p.a.

Submit 12 months of payslips + the corresponding bank statements.

Ensure you have rock solid documented evidence of a relationship 'akin to marriage' for at least 24 months.
