Children Travelling with British Registration Certificate

Post by Chemist » Sun Aug 20, 2017 2:57 pm

Hi All,

Please, your appreciated advice as soon as possible.

Both my wife and I have ILR. Four months ago we applied for British Registration Certificate for our three children, and today their applications were approved online, and we are waiting to receive the Certificate then apply for British passports for the children.

The problem we already have booked flights to travel abroad. Unfortunately, the current visa of the kids has expired and if we wait until making the first British passport for the kids sure the kids will miss the flights. We tried with the airline company to delay or cancel the flights, but they indicate the conditions are no refund for cancellation or alteration!

My questions are:

[1] Can the kids travel then come back to the UK using only their British Registration Certificate, or there will be a problem with the airline company on the boarding?

[2] Can my kids and wife travel, while I stay to apply for the British passport for kids while they will be outside the UK then I will travel to them to let them come back to the UK with their first British passports?

[3] In the British Registration Certificate timelines, I have noticed some people have received the passport for their children next day after receiving the British Registration Certificate. If that true, then how they do that? I know at least 1-week fast track for children passport application?!!!

Thanks in advance for your helping and support

Best wishes

Chemist

1. Yes, they will likely be denied boarding by the airline to return as they don't hold a valid visa or British passport. A registration certificate is not a travel document.

2. You could do that. You don't state when you plan on travelling??

3. These are members that have applied for citizenshi and passporrt jointly at NCS using the JCAP scheme.

Hello CR001,

Thanks for your appreciated reply and efforts. As usual, I am waiting for your reply.

with regards to the answer of the question [2]

Application status of kids registration certificate was updated on 17 August 2017 (which we hope the real decision time was 15 August 2017).

my wife and the three kids will travel on 24 August 2017 and return to the UK by 8th September 2017. during this time I will wait in the UK to receive the kids' registration certificates if certificates do not arrive before kids and wife traveling, and to apply for their British passport.

My plan to travel for them, after got their British passports, by 5 or 6 of September to let us as a whole family return together by 8th September 2017, as the parent will have their ILR and the kids will have their British passport.

Wait for your kindly reply
Best wishes

What would the children's immigration statuses have been if they had not been registered, and do they still have documentary evidence of it?

The kids were having a tier 2 dependent visa which already has expired this month!
And yes we have the expired biometric cards

But, alas, as they have expired they are of no use.
